About This Spot

Stepping into DALIA Mercado Cultural is like finding a quiet heartbeat within the vibrant pulse of Xochimilco. Nestled near the bustling local market, this family-run restaurant offers a refuge where time slows just enough to savor not only the flavors but the simple pleasures of shared moments. The space carries a gentle warmth—light filters softly through the windows, and comfortable chairs invite you to linger, whether for a calm lunch or a relaxed afternoon drink.

Here, the mood is unhurried, filled with the understated rhythms of daily life in Ciudad de México’s authentic neighborhoods. The kitchen’s offerings feel like stories told through food, each dish crafted with a reverence for traditional recipes and local ingredients. The aroma of mole almondado, the subtle tang of fresh salsas, and the comforting familiarity of chilaquiles blend together to create a tapestry of taste that feels both rooted and alive.

Beyond the plate, DALIA is a welcoming corner where warmth extends from the staff to the community it embraces. The quiet joy of sipping an agua de fruta natural or a mezcal cocktail and watching the world outside blend with soft conversation inside is a reminder of why places like this endure. In its peaceful and sincere atmosphere, every visit feels like a gentle discovery of not just food, but of the heart of Xochimilco itself.

What a gem: Dalia Café is the perfect starting or ending point (we came three times) for your visit to this authentic CDMX neighborhood and its many offerings. Right next to the market, but a calm oasis for just a drink or a multi-course meal. There’s also a little shop. If the door’s closed during opening hours (until 5 pm), simply knock. By eating and shopping here, you support the local community and treat yourself to a travelicious experience.

Great spot for families! There is a small play area for kids and the waiters were kind and welcoming to our family. Great local menu with some vegetarian options and a lovely atmosphere.

What a gem - the food, the generous hosts, right on the plaza. We had chicken mole and tacos - they were both outstanding, as were the plantains and coffee for a light dessert. Step into the space and enjoy.

Lovely restaurant owned by two sisters. Excellent mole from a nearby mountain town famous for their mole. Delicious tiny quesadillas if you just need a snack. And a cute little store selling goods by local artisans.
